This policy explains what Snack Isle ("we," "us") collects when you use the app, why, and what choices you have. Snack Isle is a snack rating and discovery app: you scan or search for snacks, rate them, write notes, follow other users, and see a personal feed and ranking of what you've tried.
• Account info: email address, password, and a username when you sign up.
• Optional profile photo and snack photos you choose to upload.
• Content you post: ratings, written notes, comments, likes, and follows, all visible to other users by default.
• Reports you file about other content or users, and users you block, both kept private, visible only to you and to app moderators.
• Device location, only when you use a feature that needs it (the map, or reporting where you found a snack) and only after you grant permission. If you report a sighting, the store's approximate location is saved and shown to other users alongside your username.
• A push-notification token, if you enable notifications, so we can deliver alerts like likes, comments, and follows.
• Barcode numbers you scan, used to look up product info.
• Supabase: our backend provider, hosting your account, content, and photos.
• Open Food Facts: an open product database. We send barcode numbers and search terms to look up snack info; no account or personal data is sent.
• Google Places API: if configured, used to search for and confirm store locations when you report a sighting. Store-name text you type and your approximate location may be sent to Google for this purpose only.
• Kroger API: used server-side to check nearby stock for a snack; only a barcode and an approximate (rounded) location are sent, not your identity.
• Expo's push notification service: delivers push notifications; receives your device's push token and the notification text.
We do not use advertising networks, and we do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools that track you individually.
Your username, avatar, ratings, notes, comments, likes, follower list, and any snack you've added or edited are visible to other users of the app. Your email address, password, blocked-users list, filed reports, and push token are never shown to other users.
You can edit or remove your notes and photos at any time, block or report other users and content, and turn off push notifications in Settings. You can delete your account from Settings, which removes your ratings, notes, comments, likes, follows, wishlist, sightings, blocked-users list, and filed reports. Snacks you added stay in the shared catalog but are no longer linked to you. Photos you've uploaded may remain stored and reachable by direct link after deletion, since we're not able to guarantee immediate removal of files already shared publicly.
Snack Isle is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the update.
